Centers Through The Year
In our class centers are a
favorite activity. With the study of each letter, one day is set aside for
experiencing special hands-on activities that relate to that letter.

Our first centers take place with the letter
Oo.
You
can look below to see those centers and the fun we had with the great parent and
grandparent helpers!

|

Our
Gg centers were lots of fun. We made ghosts for our ceiling and
played the green Gg game. In this activity picture cards and game
pieces are drawn from a large can. If the picture started with Gg,
it could be placed on one of the Gg squares on the game card. If not
it was placed in the discard pile. Another center made gumdrop
creations and drew pictures of what they had created (if you check our
webpage menu you can find all of our creations under Gumdrop Creations.)
The listening center was the story of the Three Billy Goats Gruff.
We have such good helpers.

Our next centers were mostly
Halloween centers. We made skeletons with
Q-tips and played pumpkin bingo. We also did a sorting and counting
activity with jack-o-lantern and ghost beans and plastic spiders. Our
other center was our pumpkin painting center - GREAT artists.

Our next centers day was for the
letter Dd. The favorite center (even for our
helpers) was the donut center. We cut a biscuit into fourths and fried
each piece to make 4 donut holes. We dipped one in regular sugar, one in
cinnamon and sugar, one in powdered sugar, and left one plain. Then, the
BEST part! We tasted all four and decided which was our favorite. We
recorded our results on our papers. What a yummy center!!! Below you will
see our other centers for Dd. |

Below you will see our centers for the
letter
Ss. We have such wonderful helpers!

|

Our
Ll centers were mostly Thanksgiving
centers. We did one Ll activity using Wiggle Works. We read the
book, What Lila Loves, and then colored and
"wrote" our own books. We finished that center at the computers. We included headbands (patterning), two games -
Gobble up the Turkeys and Turkey Trot and our necklace center on this day.

We
combined our Hh centers
with our snow centers and we worked on getting ready for
Valentines Day.. For our Hh centers we made
"hamburgers" out of vanilla wafers, a round mint, coconut colored green, and
"mustard" and "ketchup". Yummy fun! We wrote
adjectives which described our snowmen in one center. In another we made a
groundhog which popped out of his burrow; we painted our Valentine houses in
another center; and in the last center we finished letterbook Hh. Busy day
- wonderful helpers - loads of fun!!! Check out the pictures below.

For our
Nn centers we experienced nests in several
different ways.
In one
center we examined real bird nests that
Mrs. Munter had found. We used
magnifying glasses to look at all of
the things the birds had used to
construct their nests. Then we
recorded what we had found on a check
list.
At another
center we made a bird nest and put
"eggs" in it. When we had finished
making the nests we ate them! Yum!!!
Mrs.
Munter had lots of other things for us
to do which had to do with nests.
We had to put together a story of a
bird building a nest by putting pictures
in the right order.
We also
colored a nest and cut out eggs to go in it.
Mrs.
Munter had lots of pictures of birds and
their nests for us to look at. Then
we read books about birds and nests. We
had great helpers who made it a
really fun day.

The next fun activity was
making and eating pancakes. Can you tell how much we enjoyed this day by
the looks on our faces?
